Can you sue someone for defamation for making false statements to the police?

someone accused me of making a bomb threat, and other criminal activity. The statements were made to the police, and now i am facing criminal charges? the statements were false, can I sue for defamation. I have evidence to show that the statements were false. What do I do?Can you sue someone for defamation for making false statements to the police?
If you have 'evidence' to show that the statements that someone else made were false, you should share that with the police, then you wouldn't be facing criminal charges.

If in face you DO have evidence that the statements were false, then the other person could be charged with filing a false police report.

Can you sue? Sure, can you win? If you have solid evidence (which if you have should have the District Attorneys office clamoring to drop the charges), then you can win.

I would worry more about your pending criminal charges than suing someone. Can you sue someone for defamation for making false statements to the police?
IMO, if you have evidence that prove the statements were false, use that to get acquitted on the criminal charges. Then, you can use the acquittal as evidence for foundation of your civil suit.

Of course you can sue but you will only win with solid evidence.
yes you sure can. If you do have information then the person who gave false info to the police could face jail time 2. Good luck, stick it 2 em!!!
yes you could and you should.
