Why are cosmetic companies allowed to make false claims?

TV is full of ads for anti-wrinkle and anti-sagging stuff that has been proved to be non-effective. Food manufacturers wouldn't get away with making false claims, so why are thousands of gullible women being ripped off on a daily basis? Someone should be putting a stop to it. WE'RE WORTH IT!Why are cosmetic companies allowed to make false claims?
They are not above the rules. They get reported all the time and are forced to withdraw their claims.

You will probably notice some of them now say that their creams 'reduce the APPEARANCE of wrinkles' rather than reduce wrinkles themselves as they used to say in the past.

However, consumers have to report them first before their claims can be investigated. Why are cosmetic companies allowed to make false claims?
??? I agree that it is wrong, but EVERYONE does that! FOOD companies are one of the worst! They raise prices, give you less product, CLAIM that things are ';healthy'; or ';high in calcium'; when all they give you is Sh** They also cut ';recommended portions'; in half so that it LOOKS like something is better for you.

I cannot even BEGIN to explain how filthy their tactics are. People are DYING from tainted food and obesity. MEDICINE is even worse, and doctors, dentists, technicans, insurance companies, they ALL rip us off and decieve us for personal gain. Charities meant to HELP people in poverty end up taking 90% percent of donations for themselves and letting MILLIONS of people DIE for NO REASON WHATSOEVER.

But guess what? NO ONE will EVER be able to change everything. Bloody MAKE-UP shouldn`t even register a thought compared to everything else!
well food manufacturers do kind of make false claims - slimming, fat-cutting, helps your heart, helps struggling farmers, etc when in fact they do NOTHING.

the reason is because well they can. there's ';regulation'; but really only when someone launches a complaint. e.g. the complaint for loreal telescopic when it said it makes your lashes longer, when it should have said it makes them APPEAR longer not grow!

there's so much deception, not necessarily lies but twisted truth. It'll say it get rids of wrinkles but infact

- slightly makes already fine lines a little more fine, and rids your skin of essential nutrients! all for 拢20!! great
If you carefully read the choice of words you will find they don't actually

PROMISE anything! It is suggestion, and the buyer wanting to read more into it!

First sales training course I went on taught me the difference between WILL and SHOULD.
