If you have a false tooth, over time will it change colour?

I was just reading a few posts saying their caps have changed colour compared to the rest of their teeth. Are caps the same thing as a false tooth?

Will it discolour drastically over the years? how long will it take?If you have a false tooth, over time will it change colour?
A cap or a crown is a false tooth that is placed over top of a natural tooth that has been ground down to a stump. When the natural tooth underneath the cap dies, it turns brown or gray and shows through the cap or crown making it appear darker. Some dentist today take precautions against this happening, by making the crown more opaque so that the grayness doesn't show through, but then you run the risk of it not looking as natural. Once a crown has changed color the next step would be to replace it with an implant. The root is taken out and a metal pin is screwed into the bone with the false tooth attached. There is no chance of discoloration with an implant.

There is also little change in the tooth color if the original tooth is healthy underneath the crown. If the natural tooth under the crown has abcessed and been root canaled then the tooth dies and discolors. If the tooth is still ';alive'; underneath, it won't discolor. If you have a false tooth, over time will it change colour?
A cap or a crown can't change color, unless it becomes stained from heavy smoking. Tooth colored caps are created by fusing porcelain to metal, so there is no way to see the underlying remaining portion of the tooth (referred to in another answer) through the cap. The natural teeth on either side of a cap will change and become darker over time, which would make the cap stand out more than it did before.
it depends

is it metel?

if it is metel, it wont change color. it will rust.

and if it isnt metel, it will change color.

but u can always dye it or u can get another
my mom has dentures and her teeth are a little yellow, she got them when she was 32 and now she is 48. they're still mostly white though and she does smoke so that could be a factor.
I had the same crowns for 20 years and they never changed... I think it is more likely that your natural teeth would change colour as the years go by
I have had my caps for years and they haven't changed color. And my grandpa has had false teeth for about... 20 years I think. They look perfectly fine.
gurl, take it out. put it in a nioce cup of tide. done.

LOVE YOUR GURL, EADZ
