Only certain errors will get your ticket ';quashed';. Errors that minor in nature or that do not affect the validity of the proceedings DO NOT result in dismissal.
In Ontario (i am not sure where you got your ticket) most mistakes are capable of amendment in court. However, you should consult with a legal representative regarding your case.

I suggest you go to court and bring up the false information and demand it get thrown out. First thing that will happen,after they stop laughing is the prosecutor will amend the complaint (ticket). Then most judges will give you the top fine instead of the lower mail in fine for wasting the courts time.
You were told wrong. False it is not, incorrect it may be.
Whether or not you can get it dismissed depends on what state you live in. You can take it to court though. When the judge sees this, it will raise doubt in his mind. If the officer is so absent minded as to write down the wrong car type, how can anyone be sure that the officer saw you with your seatbelt off? I think it is definitely worth a try. Most cops are not very intelligent, and this one sounds particularly stupid.
