Is it possible to have a false positive on a blood test?

Blood test will read you HcG levels sooner than your HPT.

If you got a positive blood test, you are pregnant. Is it possible to have a false positive on a blood test?
It is possible, but not likley that it would be. A blood test would be more sensetive that a hpt. Have you missed your period yet? Yo may want to wait until then to retest if you feel you need to confirm it with a hpt, usually it's the other way around. For now I would treat yourself like you are pregnant.

';Generally, blood tests for pregnancy are more accurate than home pregnancy tests. The reason for this is that there is less risk for human error. Unfortunately, pregnancy blood tests can be wrong, although it is much more uncommon than getting a false positive or false negative with a home test. Luckily, the test is neither hard to order or perform so if your doctor doesn’t like the result he or she can simply order a new test to double check the results.

A wrong answer can be the result of many things. If the hCG count is high it may be the result of a tumor, the death of a developing fetus, multiple pregnancy, ovarian cancer, it often happens in a completely normal pregnancy, blood or protein in the urine, and certain medications. If the hCG count is negative or low it could be the result of an ectopic pregnancy, a miscarriage, or recent abortion. Of course, there is no real “normal” as each pregnancy develops just a bit differently than all others, but there is a normal range that your doctor will use to help determine how well your pregnancy is progressing, or if you are pregnant at all.';-http://www.thelaboroflove.com/arti…Is it possible to have a false positive on a blood test?
maybe like 00000.1% out of 100!!

i seriously don't think that is possible

your hcg levels may be too low for the hpt to pick up yet, but if you have beentold yes for the bloods then you are defiantly pregnant!!

And with hpt's you can always get false negatives :) Good luck on your pregnancy
It is very unlikely that a blood test would give you a false positive. Blood tests are more sensitive than hpts, it may just be too soon for an hpt to detect the pregnancy hormone.
I don't think it's possible..
Nope you are very pregnant! Congrats
I really don't think so :-\
i do not believe so
