In your own words, and without quoting scripture, what makes a false god false?

What objective quantifiable distinguishing features enable this distinction? Or is the distinction a gradation borne of somebody else's subjectivity? In your own words, and without quoting scripture, what makes a false god false?
reality is what you can get away with. If only one person believes something it's a delusion. If a few people can agree on the possible existence of anything it's at least an opinion.

False gods are a delusion

anything else is at least a minority opinion

Acting on the wishes of a false god will get you arrested or committed.

anything else might get you killed but only the cult leader (if the belief is not widely held) will be arrested or committed if he/she/it survives In your own words, and without quoting scripture, what makes a false god false?
Incorrect. There are many people who the religious majority would perceive as worshipping money, thus making it a ';false god'; for them. Therefore this idea that a god is perceived as false when only one or a small group of people believe in it is false.

Understand please....there is only one God and he is real. He's referred to with different names, but he has the same nature, personality and purpose.

What makes a false god is an erroneous interpretation of Him. This can be done by any religion.

When serving a God is contrary to morality and love, it's a false belief.
If i squeeze an orange i get orange juice. You can squeeze an orange juice and the result is the same. It doesn't who squeezes the orange, male or female, young or old. It doesn't matter where in the world it's done north or south, east or west.

But every language has it's own name for the orange juice. Even in a single family they can all give it a different nick name.

So i say a false god is one that people think can be bound in a single scripture or is just a subjective cultural icon. The real God is universal like orange juice even if it has different names. So is bigger than any religion.

A false god is an individual, whether real or imagined, who claims to be a god but has no real divine power or authority. For instance, if the universe indeed has a creator, then that creator would certainly, of necessity, be a god; its power and authority being demonstrated in the thing created.

That is my personal definition. But to fully define what is, we must also determine what isn't. Worship does not define godhood. The assignment of divine power granted to individuals by god and given the epithet of ';god'; by that god would not be false gods, nor would they be gods in opposition of the one granting the authority to be called gods. (For religious individuals alone, I point to the Scripture Jesus quoted concerning Israel's princes and judges: Psalms 82:1-3, 6; note, this is not a scripture to prove my definition as defined in the first paragraph.)
I think when people (usually Christians) call someone or something a ';false god,'; that means that that particular being or thing is, at the very least, not considered to be the Supreme Absolute Truth and yet there is someone or some group who intentionally or inadvertently worship it. For example, someone who lives their whole life just trying to accumulate money at any cost may be said to be worshipping money and thus it might be considered a ';false god'; because of how that person treats it.

Then sometimes Christians will accuse the supposed Supreme Being as per another religion as being false. In other words, they say that that particular being isn't really the Supreme Being, as that religion claims. I think this is where the difficulty comes in. If the being or thing that someone is seemingly worshipping is not even purported as being the Supreme Being or absolute truth, then I think it is reasonable to conclude that this is a case of making a ';false god.'; But if the being one is worshipping is alleged as the Supreme Absolute Truth, then how can the Christian (for example) really know that they aren't worshipping the false god rather than the other party? Of course, this all assumes that the God of the other party and the God of the Christian are different entities. It may be the case that many of these religions are referring to the same Supreme Being.
any god that does not profess Elohim

without quoting scritpure that is - at the very root of the word - Elohim

God is an absolute and not subject to anyones box

the distiction is God cannot fit in anyones box Elohim, YHWYH, Adoni, Holy Comforter

Love

If the Empire State building exist and has certain chracteristics, then anything else that claims to be the Empire State building would be a false one.

Since God really exist, and has clear charateristics found in the Bible, anything else that claims to be God would be a false one.

It is neither. There is the person's effective desire to find the true God (without moral restrictions, without restrictions of the will) and then there is the state more or less close that human ignorance hedges the best attempts with. So....You might have been told wrong things about Jesus from people you trust thus ending up a Jew. You are doing your best and that is what you know of the true god.

This also means that you can believe in the 'true god' and through culpable ignorance believe wrong things about the true god. It is a continuum.

IT is not, as you insinuate, a religious equivalent of an SAT exam.
Well--a false god is not a real God. The real God is living and powerful. All the other gods are nothing, either not alive or illusions.

There's only one God--anything else we worship or put in front of Him is false.
Many things constitute a god, for it is something that is worshipped; and that can be ones self, money, a car, ones status, etc. The difference between these and the true and living God, is that these need us, but He does not.
A counterfeit, a person or thing that takes your worship away from the one true God.

What objective quantifiable distinguishing features enable this distinction? Or is the distinction a gradation borne of somebody else's subjectivity?

Holiness
God is the One who can satisfy us, so we can have all we want. When we look for that satisfaction somewhere else, we are making it out to be our source of satisfaction and love, which it can't be. So, it is a false god.
Anything you worship other than the one true god is a false god. That could be music, sex, religion, your car, your job, whatever it is is a false god if you consider it more important than the real god.
At first I would state the obvious of redundancy, but that isn't what your looking for.

A false God is simply one that is made up by man for various reasons. A real God would of course be real.
The title ';false god'; doesn't necessarily mean the god in question doesn't exist. It just means he/she/it doesn't have any followers, or the followers of another god disbelieve in the god in question.
The influence of the extremely powerful supernatural being called Satan, the devil, is the driving force behind all false gods. There is no other reason.
False God: One that is not a scientist from a technologically advanced planet outside our solar system. --- That's about it for now.
Anything that takes the place of and/or takes your attention/affection off the LIVING GOD.
A person or thing that receives worship, although not worthy of worship, because it is not truly God.
When people just make it all up as they go along. When it's all imagination and no proof or evidence to back them up. When it keeps changing and all the contradictions...it doesn't add up.
Lack of a valid reason to believe he exists. Given a lack of evidence the logical default is to assume that he doesn't.
They are the antithesis of what makes a true god true. The entire process is 100% subjective since there is no evidence for a God to exist.
Any other god other then the one True God, the Creator.
False God's cannot overcome Natural obstacles, like iron chariots.
They would make graven images, also the god can be in their mind making them a god that suits them which is not real.
I would say that by definition all gods are false.
A false god is one you are unable to believe in.
Any God that will punish you for not doing exactly what he wants is a wife beater, not a God.
One that does not exist.

In the context of idolatry, it would be one that does not bring real happiness. (i.e., people making money or success or their country their gods)
One that is separate.
in my own words?
