This guy sublet a room to me and told me his landlord was okay with it. I signed a month to month agreement and paid a deposit plus first months rent ( I have signed papers and signed receipts.) Turned out it was illegal for him to sublet the room and the landlord had no knowledge I was there. Landlord found out and evicted the guy immediately.I signed a month to month rent contract with a guy under false pretense, can I get my rent money back?
You can try, but it's unlikely as the man who let to you was dishonest
